I started this quite a while back -- it's kind of a blending of the Merry Gentry world with the Harry Potter universe.
Anyhow -- I got this far when the story quit on me (damnit!)
Looking for feedback, thoughts, suggestions....I'd like to start the story back up and add some more to it.

Courts of Silver, Courts of Gold
16 Years ago (Prologue):
Lily raced into the house at Godric’s Hollow her green eyes glowing as she looked for her husband, James. “James…James, where are you darling?” she chirped as she looked in the kitchen for her missing spouse.
“I’m in the bedroom” a baritone voice called from above. James walked to the top of the stairs and looked at his wife, who was ‘glowing’ in more ways than one. “Lily? Is something the matter?”
Lily raced up the stairs and launched herself at James, secure in the knowledge that he’d catch her in his arms. “James, we’re going to have a baby!” she shrieked as he caught her.
“Wha….wha…WHAT! You…I….but…but…but….a baby?”
Lily laughed at the look of amazement on James’s face. “Yes darling, a baby. You’re going to be a daddy.” She squirmed in his arms until he relaxed them so that she could stand on her own feet again. “I know” she whispered “it’s a true miracle. Just think of it, Sidhe and Wizard, combined together in one package. He will be unique and special, and powerful, very powerful.”
James smiled, “It might be a girl, you know.”
She looked up at James, “Yes, I know, but I am sure that it is a boy.” Lily’s voice became very serious, “None the less, we’ll need to give him very special protection. If Voldemort were to find out about him; we both know he’d stop at nothing to try and take this child, to take his powers as they manifest. We need to talk to Albus Dumbledore, and the rest of the Marauders.”
Grabbing Lily’s hand in his larger one, James led his love down the stairs to the kitchen, “We’ll call him immediately. You know he will want us to go under Fidelius for our protection. I was thinking Peter as our Secret Keeper, if that is what Albus suggests.”
“Peter hummm…there’s something about him that sets my teeth on edge, but he’s one of the Marauders, and if you want to tell him, that will be okay with me.” She abruptly changed the subject, “do you think Siri and Remy would be willing to Protector and Guardian? We are going to need them for the baby, especially with all of the Death Eater activity.”
They moved to the sunny corner where the table was and sat down. “I think that they would be good choices, and that would leave Peter as the Secret Keeper.”
“Let’s call Albus and let him in on the good news.”
July 31, 1980 (8 months later):
“I’m a father….a father…” James’s voice dropped off as he passed out into the arms of his best friends. Sirius Black and Remus Lupin looked at each other across the prone body of their friend and shared a laugh.
“Shall we let him live this down my dear Padfoot?”
“Absolutely not, Moony, he’d never let us live it down if it was one of us.” Sirius smirked at Remus. “Let’s go see the ‘miracle’ shall we?” as he offered his arm to Remus.
Remus looped his arm through Siri’s and laughed, “yes, indeed, let us go and see the miracle.”
The two made their way up the stairs to the master bedroom, where they were stopped in the doorway by the sight of Lily sitting up in the bed, nursing the baby. She looked up at them and smiled, “come in, and meet your godson you two. He’s just finishing with dinner.” The baby pulled away from her breast, full and content. Lily covered herself and motioned the two to come closer.
Remus and Sirius looked in awe at the tiny life in Lily’s arms. “He’s got James’s hair” Remus said with a laugh.
“Yes, but I am sure as he gets older some red will show through. He’ll have my eyes though.” Lily smiled at them.
“How can you tell? Doesn’t the eye color change and set by the end of the first month?” Remus asked. Sirius was too busy making faces at the baby to say anything.
“That’s true in strictly human babies, but in Harry’s case, his eyes will show his Sidhe heritage and will probably be the same glowing green that I have. Now, I have a very special question that I need to ask the both of you.”
Sirius looked up from Harry and focused his attention on to Lily. He could see that she was tired, but he knew from their time at school that she’d not sleep until she had asked them her question. He looked over at Remus, love shining in his eyes. “What do you need from us?”
Lily looked at her two friends and then at her husband who was now standing quietly in the doorway. She knew that whatever was to happen in the future, that she was blessed to have such love in her life. “James and I would like to formally request that you Sirius become Harry’s Guardian and Remus that you become his Protector.”
Sirius and Remus could hear the capitals on the words, letting them understand that this was something more than just being godfathers for the newest Potter. Remus looked at Lily and Harry on the bed and then to his lover standing beside him. Together they turned and looked at James standing in the doorway. Remus answered, “We’d be honored to serve you and James in this way. What do we need to do?”
Lily’s smile grew greater if possible, as she gazed upon her ‘family’. “We will need to perform a blood Bond to activate the roles, and if it is alright with you two, I would like to do it tomorrow. I’ve seen that things are quickly moving, Evil is rising, and Harry will need all the protection he can get as soon as possible.” She yawned delicately, “I think that it’s time for us to nap boys, if you don’t mind,” and with that she slid down onto her side, curled around the now sleeping baby and promptly fell asleep.
James wrapped his arms across the shoulders of his friends and led them back downstairs. “Let’s have a drink to celebrate, and you two can tease me over my faint to your hearts content.”
The next day:
James found Sirius and Remus in the kitchen enjoying a cup of tea. “Are you ready for the Bonding?” he asked them.
Remus spoke up, “can you tell us what this particular Bonding does James? I mean, what exactly are the Protector and Guardian? I’ve never seen reference to a Bonding of this type in any of the books I’ve read on the subject.”
James turned his attention to Remus, “the role of Protector is the one who will defend the child from attacks and danger. The role of Guardian is the one who will guide the child in studies and life. Together, they present a powerful duet of magic and might, bound to the child by blood and oath, so that the child has the best chance to grow up safe and secure until they can reach puberty. At puberty, they may have gifts of power appear, and it is up to the Guardian and the Protector to find the Teacher that will train those gifts so that they reach their full potential.” Through out his explanation, James watched his friends to see if there were doubts in their minds about their ability to fulfill the duties. Seeing only confidence in their eyes he motioned for them to stand and head upstairs to Lily and Harry.
In the bedroom, Lily was waiting with baby Harry. She was nervous about the Bonding, afraid, no terrified of the magic’s that she was going to invoke, but more afraid that if she didn’t, that something worse would happen. She could hear the guys coming up the stairs, talking quietly amongst themselves.
Coming into the room, James came and stood next to the bed, to help Lily up, and motioned for Sirius and Remus to stand in the open space at the foot of the bed facing one another. When they turned and faced each other, James picked up Harry and handed him to the two, so that they could hold him in between themselves. He then helped Lily to stand by them.
“James, fetch the dagger from my drawer in the chest.” James turned and retrieved the knife in question, then handed it to Lily. Once done, he went to stand behind the trio so that he could see Lily. Once everyone was in position, then Lily began to chant in an ancient dialect, and all could feel the energy of the spell like a breeze rising in the room, circling them.
As the power grew a heavy feeling began to pervade the room, and for those within its sphere of influence it felt as if their skin was itching all over. Lily took the dagger and nicked Harry, Sirius, and Remus at the base of their throats. She sat the dagger down and gathered a drop of Sirius’s blood on her finger and as she touched Remus and Harry in turn on their cuts with the drop of blood she intoned, “my Blood to your Blood, my Spirit to your Spirit, Bound as the Protector to the Guardian and the Child, we are One.”
The power rose another notch causing those within its radius to feel as if their skin was crawling with insects as Lily gathered a drop of Remus’s blood on her finger and touched Sirius and Harry with it, intoning, “my Blood to your Blood, my Spirit to your Spirit, Bound as the Guardian to the Protector and the Child, we are One.”
The power rose a third time and all in the room felt as if their skin was burning, as Lily gathered the final drop of blood from Harry and touched Sirius and Remus with it, intoning, “my Blood to your Blood, my Spirit to your Spirit, Bound as the Child to the Protector and the Guardian, we are One!” With that the power spiked and slammed back into all in the room, and then vanished as if it was never there.
James reached out and caught Lily as she slumped to the floor and laid her out on the bed. He then took the sleeping Harry from Sirius and Remus and laid him next to Lily. He checked them both over, making sure that they were resting peacefully. He then kissed them both softly, and ushered the others out of the room and back downstairs. “Let’s go have a drink and let them sleep.”
October 31, 1981
James felt the wards around the house drop as Voldemort and six Death Eaters aparated into Godric’s Hollow. He shouted for Lily to take Harry and get out as he turned to face Voldemort with his wand in his hand. The Dark Lord looked at him and laughed as he shouted Avada Kedavra and with a flash of green light James fell dead to the floor.
Voldemort motioned for his minions to make sure that no one else was in the house as he headed up the stairs to find where Lily and Harry were hiding.
He found them in the bedroom. “Give me the child, and you can go free” the handsome Dark Lord said.
“Never, never do you hear me!” Lily screamed at Voldemort. She placed her hand on the baby’s chest and started chanting.
“What are you doing, you foolish girl. If you will not give me the child, then I will just take him. Avada Kedavra!”
“My life is yours….” Lily whispered as the green light hit her and she fell to the ground, holding her crying son.
Voldemort looked closely at the sobbing child and saw the magical signature of the Bond. “Damn it! Too late, and now I’ve lost the opportunity to control the child. He already has been bonded.” He thought for a moment, “If I cannot control him then he must die. Avada Kedavra.” The green light flashed again, but this time it was the Dark Lord who fell and all that was left in the room was the body of Lily and one softly crying child.
The Death Eaters that were in the house felt the fall of the Dark Lord, and apparated away in fear, leaving the bodies of the Potters for the side of Light to find.
Within minutes the sounds of apparating was heard again in Godric’s Hollow, only this time it was Dumbledore, Sirius, and Remus along with a dozen Auror’s. The scene was horrible to see, James lay dead at the foot of the stairs, and upstairs, Lily’s body was sprawled out on the floor of the bedroom, and Harry…Harry was curled up in a ball next to Lily sniffling and whimpering, a copiously bleeding gash on his head.
Sirius was the first through the door, followed closely by Remus and then Albus. Taking in the destruction, Sirius picked up Harry and began to smooth a hand down his back as he whispered soothing words to the crying baby, calming him down. Remus mopped blood off of his forehead and murmured a healing spell, so that all that was left was a jagged scar, shaped a bit like a lightening bolt on his forehead.
“I think that Harry should go to Lily’s sister, Petunia. She and her husband have a boy close to the same age as Harry. They can give him a normal life. I think that will be important.”
“Damn it Albus, the answer is no! We’ll be taking him home with us” said Remus. “He’ll need the security of having his Guardian and Protector with him now that James and Lily are gone.” His voice broke a little at the mention of his friends.
“But don’t you think he’d be better off with Lily’s sister and her family? They can give him a normal childhood, and you can begin training him when he comes to Hogwarts.”
“NO!” came from the last two Marauders. “Lily and her ‘sister’ never got along, and she would only punish Lily’s son for what he is, she hated Lily. No, he is our responsibility, Lily made sure of that with the blood Bond, and we will not leave him in the care of anyone else” snarled Sirius. “We will raise him and begin training him as soon as is possible. He will be ahead of his age mates when and if he starts school, but it’s necessary, you know it as well as us.” Looking down at the now sleeping child, he crooned softly to him, “you’re safe now, sweetling, and we will protect you.”
15 years later…
Harry woke to the sound of his godfathers chatting in the kitchen. Dragging himself up up out of bed, he slipped into a pair of rumpled sweatpants and a faded half tee that exposed his lightly muscled stomach. Running his hands through his hair, he headed downstairs to the kitchen in search of coffee.
Remus looked up as Harry came into the kitchen and took in his rumpled, sleepy appearance. “Morning sleepyhead. Did you have another rough night dreaming again? You look exhausted.”
Sirius looked up at Remus’s voice and looked at Harry with worry in his eyes. They still hadn’t found the Teacher that Lily had talked about at the Bonding, and what little they was able to find out about the whole Teacher role in books was unclear. What they did know was that the Teacher was needed for the Sidhe to finish going through puberty, and that it was the role of the Teacher not only to guide the teenage Sidhe through their awakening powers, but also initiate them into the realms of sexual pleasure.
Harry yawned as he sat down at the table, “coffee, I need coffee, now.” He growled out the last word. “Yes, I am still dreaming."
