Ranty McRant Rant

Just a few things hitting my [PISSED OFF] button today:
Ryan Murphy – creator of Glee
First, let me say that I think Ryan Murphy is doing fabulous things for helping young gay people feel comfortable about their sexuality. He’s my hero for that alone.
However… and this is a broad generalization I know… His (and by and large the Gay community’s) stance on bisexuals makes me see red!
We are not a fucking myth people! Bisexuals are really here. We aren’t fence sitters unable to make up our mind, we’re not ‘queers hiding behind hetronormality’ we truly can and do see both sexes as something wonderful, sexy and enticing. I could rant on forever on this subject but I just cannot get the words to come out clearly – I feel like the divine Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White in Clue: “Yes. Yes, I did it. I killed Yvette. I hated her, so much... it-it- the f - it -flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths. Heaving breath...”
Saint Patrick’s Day
Okay – I love the whole everyone’s Irish today thing about it, but honestly and truly the wearing of the green annoys the shit outta me.
A little religious history here: green = catholic, orange = protestant.
The wearing of the green was to show that you weren’t one of those ‘going to hell’ Protestants. If you weren’t of the Catholic faith you wore orange on this day and frequently got the shit beat outta you in some areas.
Now – why do I actually give a shit about this? Because I am neither Catholic or Protestant, though I do have a lot of Irish blood in my veins, and personally I have no desire to ‘celebrate’ the saint that helped bring Christianity to Ireland.
No offense to my Christian friends – but the whole going out and ‘sharing the word of the Lord’ thing many of the churches do is just plain annoying and frankly insulting.
Probably ‘nuff said here as well.

Is there really anyone out there on my friends list that actually believes that teachers and other state employees get paid too much? If so, please share your thoughts, because I am really interested in how you see this issue.
Yes, there are state employees in every state that gets paid too much. Are they usually a member of the state employee union?
NO.
Usually they are management that isn’t allowed to be a member of the union. Because the union is for the folks that actually do the work, you know the ones, the teachers that are going out and trying to teach your little heathens that spelling, grammar, maths, music, science and all that other jazz are important to their future. While they are doing this they are supplying the class rooms with supplies because state budgets have cut what they give to schools down to the bare bones. They try to maintain discipline in class rooms where children have never heard the word NO in relation to themselves.
And the social workers, you know, the ones that should have a caseload of 15-20 people that they check on and try to keep functioning, but instead have 100-150 clients and are unable to do more than cursory checks on them, leading to child and elder abuse, drug issues and lots of disenfranchised folks slipping through the cracks because they are seen as disposable and undesirable.
And yeah, I was once a state worker. It sucks big time.
‘Nuff said again.
