We sat and watched Tarzan (the Disney animated version) last night instead of Criminal Minds (mostly because it was yet another repeat and one I really didn't want to see again so soon).

I'd forgotten just how much I adore the Disney version, especially as it's obvious that they used Christopher Lambert's face from Greystoke, the Legend of Tarzan, as the basis for the grown Tarzan's face.

*hugs both movies to her chest with lovies*

I read Tarzan when I was a teenager and loved the visuals that it conjured in my brain. Later obsessions...I mean infatuations....uh...okay, I was a big(ger) geek as a teen and read the Conan stories, Tarzan, most of the old 30/40ths explorer type novels. Before that I was on a big historical/regency kick and nearly memorized Jane Erye and Little Women....

Sigh....the memories of my teen years.

All hail Doc Savage!

Yes! And the Shadow stories, along with Sherlock Holmes....all are tied up together in my memories from that time in my life (not that way, you perv!)

Ooh, i loved the Greystoke movie, even if it was a bit off here and there. But then, the books were so utterly unbelievable...but so damn *fun*.
I really must own them again.

I loved the cartoon, too - it really had some fun moments.

Did you ever see the Bo Derek 'Tarzan'? It was utterly goofy, and yet...
Bo actually did some good work when she wasn't mostly naked. My sister and i told our mum we were going to see one movie, then we walked the few blocks to the other theatre and saw 'Tarzan' instead. Because Miles O'Keeffe, omg - we thought he was so hot.
:)

Yeah... I think I would have liked it better if it hadn't been called Tarzan the Ape Man, since from what I can remember it focused almost entirely on Jane and her father and their relationship, with Tarzan in there as a bit of a side story.

hmmmm....Miles O'Keefe was quite the pretty young thing in those days....

As far as i was concerned, it was all 'uh - father? what? ooh, there's Tarzan! And Jane!!'

We both thought they were *both* so damn hot. Heh.

Yeah, pretty man who never really worked again. Too bad.

Bo Derek Tarzan
